BOITE DU XVE SIECLE

(vers 1460). *** Un étui à livre du XVe siècle, très probablement pour un livre de prière (livre d'heures, missel, bréviaire...). La boîte en bois est recouverte de veau brun noir entièrement estampé. Taille : 17 x 14 x 7 centimètres. It consist of a wood box, with its lid, entirly covered with a calf skin, blind stamped with floral decoration. This box was intended to be carried with a shoulder strap. Some lack of leather on bottom. Size : 17 x 14 x 7 centimeters. Such Renaissance slipcase are today much rarer than books of hours ! - -. Item #16571
